So I decided to share my 2019 book reviews. My favorite book this year was... It’s a TIE between HERE KITTY KITTY by @jardinelibaire ....And THE TRAUMA CLEANER by Sarah Krasnonstein I really loved Here Kitty Kitty, I was so heartbroken it was over that I cried. The only other two times that’s happened was when I was younger and read The God of Small Things by Arundhati Roy and then again after I finished The Flower Boy by Karen Roberts (two books I really should revisit...and it’s amazing I still haven’t made it to India yet after all those years!!) Jardine Libaire is one of my favorite writers ever and I would read anything she writes, even the grocery list. Also she’s just a badass woman who has inspired me a lot this year ✨ You know those books that you feel like you can reach into the pages and touch the words. Her other book White Fur is magnificent as well, the worlds and characters she creates are devastatingly perceptive and raw. The Trauma Cleaner had me stop and put the book down to catch my breath a few times. I read it at work and never have so many people come up to me and said it was their favorite book. It’s sort of hard to describe this book, because the tag line and the book cover don’t do it justice (you really shouldn’t judge a book by its cover..! It’s very true in this case!) This is a powerful book, a kaladisocopic fairytale with a real life cast of beautiful and tragic stories and characters. Other favorites from the year. I’m probably forgetting some because I’m not near my bookshelf so I might add more when I get home.
