I (very, very luckily) spent the last 4 days on Heron Island in the Great Barrier Reef to learn about Climate Change with some of the smartest scientists, activists and climate change crusaders, as well as a group of equally passionate, intelligent, inspiring men and women from all walks of life with diverse careers, all with a unanimous urgent need to learn the tools to implement change and inspire within their own community, home and workplaces. But what I learned over this weekend was this; it’s too late for small steps. We need to take drastic, bold, uncomfortable changes, we need to challenge politicians, we need to challenge our own way of thinking. We need to question where and how our money is being invested, we need to demand transparency from our banks. Australians, We need to acknowledge and learn from our indigenous communities, and hear their stories, their fears, their anger. As Lily so eloquently shared, we as a humanity now have a common problem. And we, as one planet, need to protect it, together. Thank you for one of the most incredible weekends of my life. I feel so incredibly lucky that I got to be part of this. To be able to sit in on such incredible lectures with some of the most inspiring teachers still wearing my ‘togs’ (swimmers in Aussie) and getting to swim in the very ocean we’re fighting to save will be one of the greatest experiences of my life, and I’m proud and excited to share all that I’ve learned ♥️ Who wouldn’t want to fight to preserve and protect this ☝️ ✨ Get to know some of these amazing organIzations and climate activists and follow these accounts: @theclimatecouncil @farmersforclimateaction @climateactionanna @seedmob 🌏」10月29日 19時03分 - phoebejtonkin
