@coralidance, a leading dance company created by artists with a learning disability, have worked with Tate since 1998 and are experts in creatively taking up space in our galleries. We invited four Corali dancers to choreograph performances in response to four artworks at Tate Britain: Maggi Hambling, 2016 2016 (performance by Paul Davidson); Gillian Ayres OBE, Distillation 1957 (performance by Sherifat King); Victor Pasmore, Square Motif, Blue and Gold: The Eclipse 1950 (performance by Bethan Kendrick) and Henry Fuseli, Titania and Bottom c.1790 (performance by Housni Hassan aka DJ).⁣

In this film snippet you see Sherifat King responding to Gillian Ayres' abstract painting 'Distillation'. Sherri loved the energy and movement within the painting and picked out the circles as a key motif for her choreography.
