The watercolours’ stark bare trees huddle together for warmth behind wire fencing as dawn breaks, their trunks casting dreamy, dark shadows on the surrounding landscape. The original date and title for this work are unknown but Nash is said to have created this in sunny July. He hints at brighter days to come with blooming snowdrops tucked in the right-hand corner.
