Mamas, here’s a gentle postpartum move (safe for Diastasis Recti) that I’ve been practicing with my little Oliver since consulting with yoga expert Patti Quintero* from @umamother . This move has allowed me to gradually begin other dynamic moves. It’s also been a great way to not only invite Oliver into my practice, but also build my lower back strength — which was totally inaccessible during my pregnancy, and also engage my gluteal muscles to open up my other back muscles needed to care for little Oliver (dressing him, carrying him, nappy changes, picking him up etc). Just a note if you are trying this at home, hold your baby upright if he has proper control of his neck and torso and slowly lift and descend. The slower you go, the more muscles you engage :). Also you can use the option to remove the bolster from under the neck for better cervical alignment.
