Photo by Robbie Shone @shonephoto | In this cave located on the Gorner Glacier in Switzerland, I noticed rocks and pebbles of varying sizes—some over 10 meters up—wedged in the roof, partly exposed and partly trapped in the ice. I wondered how long it would be before they dropped out and came crashing to the ground; we didn’t hang around to find out. Some members of each team set about surveying the caves as far as the depths took them, while others explored the frozen pools of water and other levels of the system. @NatGeoImageCollection
