Photo by @PaulNicklen | Alaska's Katmai National Park and Preserve is one of the world's last pristine wild places. Bears of all different shapes and sizes relax and feast in the shadows of the mountains. They were completely at ease with the presence of our @SeaLegacy team, and we were incredibly fortunate to share this space with them.
This national park is located near the intended site of Pebble Mine, a proposed copper mine that, if constructed, would jeopardize 3,500 acres of wetlands and 80 miles of salmon streams. Pebble Mine would bring the construction of a port, which means increased traffic on the water, and the building of a travel corridor, putting the world's largest remaining wild salmon population at incredible risk of extinction.
