On the first spacewalk to repair the International Space Station's cosmic particle detector, @AstroDrewMorgan and @europeanspaceagency astronaut Luca Parmitano removed a debris shield to access the work site. It was too big to take inside, so the best option was to jettison it behind @国際宇宙ステーション, where it will disintegrate in the upper atmosphere. This video was taken on Nov. 15.⁣

On Friday, Nov. 22, the two astronauts will once again venture into the vacuum of space to resume repair work on the particle detector, called the Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer. Watch live coverage starting at 5:30am ET on nasa.gov/live.⁣
