A lot sure did happen in my 20s (and also in my teens) but my 20s were truly about trying to figure out who I was without gymnastics in my life, what my passions were, what my next dreams would be. Achieving a “life long dream” before I even turned 20 was amazing but also incredibly scary. I was now entering my 20s, afraid. Afraid of failure, afraid of the unknown, afraid of always being defined by that one moment in Beijing. Slowly but surely the fear starting lifting, and I started figuring out who I was. There were so many highs, but also so many lows. In the moment, sometimes things didn’t always make sense. You question yourself, your decisions, and a lot of times wonder, “why me?”. But as difficult as each of those lows were, it was those moments that eventually made me become stronger and now more so than ever, happier than ever ❤️ Perhaps every year we all think or try to convince ourselves, “this is going to be my best year yet”.... but to be honest I have been dreading this day for the last few years — turning 30 always sounded scary— yet today I woke up with a smile on my face, ready to take on my 30s and really make it the BEST year ever, because I truly am the happiest I’ve ever been. While none us know what the future holds, what I do know is how lucky I am today. I have an amazing family and boyfriend 😘, incredible friends, and a career I’m passionate and excited about. The unknown can be scary or it can be exciting. So I’ve decided to live each day with excitement, rather than fear... and finally live life on my own timeline, not the timeline society thinks is right.
