This #worldmentalhealthday I want to remind you that your feelings are valid ❤️ I often downplay my own low moments as “first world problems” and laugh it off. But the reality is that we can ALL have times where we feel anxious, overwhelmed and like we’re struggling to cope. All those feelings are valid, no matter the circumstances 👌🏼
I’m someone who has had a fairly smooth ride with mental health, but this year has been a little more challenging. Surprisingly my near death experience and emergency bowel surgery didn’t shake me. I hardly cried. I didn’t get low. I focused on getting better and was ridiculously positive throughout my recovery 🙌🏼
But now that life is back to normal? When you would assume I would be in an even better head space? This is when I have struggled. I’ve had weeks when I’ve cried almost every day from overwhelm and days when I’ve been so anxious that my heart feels like it’s going to burst out my chest. And the worst part? That I keep it to myself and feel ashamed about it because strangers on the internet tell me I’m too privileged to struggle 🙅🏼‍♀️
Well this is a reminder to myself, and to you, that your feelings are nothing to be ashamed of. They are valid. Please don’t be afraid to share them or ask for support ❤️
