Rachel has composed the most amazing music, songs and score, and incorporated some of my songs into the project. Based on the novel Siddhartha by Herman Hesse, which inspired the first drafts of TOMMY, I perform the role of the Ferryman, singing a song of the same name that I wrote in 1976 and included on one of my Scoop albums. Also included are beautiful new orchestral adaptations of The Seeker, Praying The Game and I Like It The Way It Is and Bargain. As well as being proud of Rachel I’m also proud of my part. I have acted as a consultant as well as singing. We have done several theatrical workshops as well. One with the New York Public Theatre. We have been learning all the way. . I wrote the song Ferryman for an amateur play performed during the week long celebrations for the opening of Meher Baba Oceanic in London in July 1976. Herman Hesse’s novel is about a young seeker after spiritual truth. . The studio here is British Grove where some of the forthcoming Who album was recorded. The singer here is the brilliant Indian superstar singer Sunidhi Chauhan. She takes the role of Siddartha’s lover, the courtesan Kamala. Rachel is pictured with her co-producer Mikko Gordon at the immense mixing console which Mikko usually likes to use as a worktop for his laptop. Duh😂 . In the background sits orchestrator Martin Batchelar and leaning against the door is Myles Clarke our resident engineer and associate producer on the new Who album.
