Be it journalism, advertising or just good old recreational shooting, there’s really no form of photography I don’t enjoy. It’s an occupation of problem solving and DIY, being put in places where you’re forced to find a solution to make a creative photograph that either tells the story, or is just simply cool to look at. I ran across these the other day, a selection of photos I shot for @adidasterrex in Brazil in 2013. I love shooting high-lining, but one of our locations had the city of Rio De Janeiro in the background, which was great but also pretty busy in terms of subject separation. I shot it every which way but my favorite were these - I added a couple off-camera strobes to the scene to freeze the subject and by shooting one second exposures did a little zoom and panning work to manipulate the lights of the city. Photography has sets of rules with light, exposure, depth of field, optical distortion, etc - the fun part is employing these to redesign your scene. The last shot here is a non-pan so you can see what the scene looked like static. Thanks to the high liner homies @caioafeto2 @gustavomfontes
