On this day in 1971, the Beach Boys released Surf's Up. The album was a critical success and became their highest-charting LP of new music in the US since 1967. Highlights included Carl's "Long Promised Road," "Feel Flows" and Brian's "'Tile I Die" and "Surf's Up." Don't miss Brian's upcoming tour featuring classics from this album and Friends.

You should add Dennis Wilson's "Wouldn't it be Nice to live again" to the setlist. A great tune which should've been on the album instead of Riot in Cell Block 9. If Blondie is touring with you...it's perfect for his voice

Your song, “Surfs Up” slays me every time I hear it. So glad when Matt sang it at the Postcard show. I can never hit those notes singing, “Columnated ruins domino...” (BTW—what does that mean? 😄😄😄).

a day in the life of a tree might be the most underrated song in the beach boys catalog.. maybe it's jack reilly's vocals... maybe it's the subject matter... the coda is sublime

They released Surf's Up exactly one year after Sunflower? That's kinda cool. Listened to both of the records yesterday without knowing about their anniversary. Great stuff!

My favorite album. I bought the sheet music songbook from it and Sunflower and am just transported working on learning these beautiful songs. ❤️❤️❤️

@danthomasuk I was just making a joke, because that is what Mike asked Van Dyke Parks. In any case, thank you for your explanation.👌🏼
