Photo by @Tim Laman. Today is World Orangutan day and I have an exciting surprise for you from Gunung Palung National Park, where I have just come from. The female orangutan Walimah, (who tragically lost her first baby in 2015), has given birth to a new baby, and here is one of my first shots of her. She is healthy and doing well… so important as every wild orangutan is precious in this era of habitat loss and orangutan population decline. I look forward to following the development of this baby over the coming years and sharing her story.
