Cops have a very tough job. That said, this is clearly the right decision. What took so long?!

First I wanna say to those who have the nerve to say he should have complied, I wish the same for you and yours! Secondly he should have immediately been locked up for murdering that man In cold blood and broad daylight as if that's a factor, his previous crime was selling loose cigarettes!!!!!!! How the hell do you attack a man that way who's rap sheet only consists of less than a misdemeanor, all they had to do was keep that dog back and listen! The man had just broke up a fight, keeping the peace like the cops should be doing but instead they came looking for a fight and a body now his kids get to grow up without a father and his family without a son, brother, nephew and so on. Between the police being allowed to murder black people as a sport and the way terrorist gunning down minorities fuelled by the occupant of the white house, we are pushed to the point where we cannot go anywhere and feel safe. I guarantee that if we began to stock pile an arsenal of automatic weapons and hand guns to defend ourselves and our families, they will double step it up making strict gun laws for fear of equal footing. It's gonna come to the point where police officers body count will escalate to outrageous amounts because people are desperately afraid and feel they must defend themselves for fear of being murdered for just going to their mailbox, these atrocities must stop and people have got to stop defending murder and all kinds of violations of people's civil rights. What kind of outcome will be expected should this be allowed to continue, this is wrong and any human being who has family, and kids would never accept this lack of justice should it happen to them after countless of other murders like this.

@rutledge91 Racists, like you, who think you're not, are more dangerous than klansmen. There is a double standard that exists in this nation, the standard that consistently says: if he had followed direction, if he hadn't been carrying Skittles, if he hadn't run, if he had complied . . . These statements time and time again contribute to the philosophy that young black male lives do not matter. It is the constant assertion that they are a threat. The demonization of the black male is why women clutch their purse in the elevator. It is why people cross the street away from two or three young black males. It is why a grown man can be found innocent of murdering a kid in his own neighborhood. It is why an officer can fail to be indicted for shooting a boy with a toy or choking a man selling illegal cigarettes. It is the pervasive belief that behavior is more threatening when it comes from a black male. It is the reason that black boys are five times more likely to be placed in ED, Emotionally Disturbed classrooms than their white male peers for exhibiting identical behavior. That preponderance of guilt, that fear, bleeds into every segment of our society. And it begins at age 10 or 11; black boys are no longer seen as boys. They are seen as adults, by society, who describes them as such. They are suspect, considered a threat, presumed guilty, in the absence of evidence. And after they are murdered, their every action is dissected. Their character questioned. They are labeled, and disparaged. You're clearly an apologist for that practice and are scum.

@adam_jarrell I agree with everything you’ve stated except for the fact that law enforcement officers are only human. The only fairytale aspect to any of this, is to expect any human being dealing with criminals everyday, to not be effected by it. To see children, the handicapped, senior citizens, females get robbed, beaten, killed, abused, molested, raped, and not be effected by that, is unrealistic. Do they get defensive, hardened, jaded, sensitive to issues that may jeopardize their own safety...certainly they do, so do cashiers at the grocery store. They are only human and no amount of training can replace everyday on the job issues. That’s just my opinion. Statistically even their personal lives, marriages and children are often effected. We see the situations on TV that are recorded by bystanders with smart phones, most often the situations that involve people with color, the reality as you know, is that lawbreakers come in all colors, ages, socioeconomic backgrounds.

With all do respect... you’re completely wrong... I ask you to walk one day in any officers shoes... Do you even know any of the facts of this case... did you read any of the court proceedings... Panteleo was found innocent in both the local and federal level... This was a politically motivated firing to prevent the city from rioting... I implore you to do research before you comment or take the test and walk in our shoes... Batman would know better, he would investigate the facts...

The choke hold was ILLEGAL. Nothing more to add to that. You are also taught in crisis situations if a person says "l cant breathe" those can be their last words on Earth. 2 rules/laws broken. He should have been fired a long time ago and the police union should have supported that decision because there was more than 1 cop on the scene. If 1 showed illegal behavior, it was their job to relieve that cop.

Yah no matter who's side you agree with in the case it's clear he would not be an effective officer on that department any more. trust was gone and that makes it dangerous for him and the community he's trying to serve. I couldn't see how he wouldn't be terminated after such a scandals. Again not saying who's right who's wrong just stating an obvious.
