unwinding down from one of the most stressful days I can remember. Times like this cross the line from irrational to rational fear. As I step beyond my comfort zones, I find it tougher at times to mitigate between the two. It’s an impossible feat to control the uncontrollable and it is really concerning to put yourself and your team at risk. I don’t know what to do at this point. We are attempting to climb a tower that is soaked, while navigating through our 17th day of consecutive rain. Rockfall is at an increased hazard. My mind is divided and confused.

My guess is that your team has made it much higher than people realize. I've noticed that weather forecasts have not verified often, even the local meteorologists have gotten it wrong repeatedly. Not their fault, as even mountain project statistical trends indicated you picked the best season for that rain forest, and they got it wrong too. Even daily satellite forcasing missed. The hydraulic nature of that rain forest is confounding. Like Honnold's first attempt to solo Nose didn't feel right, on a perfectly sunny clear day, and he down climbed and waited until his gut feeling linked up. You all could easily have already done this deal, if conditions were optimal, but they haven't come close with weeks of rain saturated rock. You're gut instincts and ability are top notch. If you take what you've got now, it's still one hell of a story! That rock will be there whenever you decide to go or not. Good luck!

Terrifying. Im so glad you and your team are ok!! It may sound trite, as just some poster out in IG-land, but I believe in you and your team! Up or down matters far less than trusting your gut and your team.

Go home. Hug your loved ones. It is just rock. There’s lots of other stuff to climb and the world, and your family need you. I heard someone dying from the cliff near my house recently. Just go home.

Turning around bailing is one of the hardest decisions, but there will be other times and opportunities. Never regret calling it off because it was just too dangerous.

its ok to bail when you need to. Many people have retreated and called off climbs in the mountains for many reasons to climb another day, somewhere else...
