Today’s #rolemodelmonday is Edna Chavez, an intelligent, strong 17 year old from south Los Angeles. She is one of the prominent, young faces that are leading the gun-control #NeverAgain movement. At a young age, she lost her brother in a shooting and faced the hard reality of this being the new “normal” in today’s world. Edna stated, “I learned to duck from bullets before I learned how to read.” Thank you @ed.naaaa for being a leader in this movement and a voice of change for our generation. With the recent tragedies this past weekend, we need people like Edna more than ever.

Guns don’t kill people. The stigma to mental illness does because our country doesn’t highlight it. So everyone who has it feels ashamed and embarrassed. So therefore they don’t take action and get help. They keep it in until... they end up killing somebody. There’s the problem, and it’s sad. Instead of a gun movement there needs to be a mental illness movement. I also think that people don’t realize that taking away guns would hurt some of the economy. My town would go down. It’s not a California beach paradise land it’s woods, and with woods comes hunting. With hunting comes economy. My town and many others would be ruined. Don’t get me wrong I still feel for Edna. This is not hate I’m just giving my..I would say opinion but it really isn’t. There facts.

Gun control without focusing on parents raising kids with absolutely NO regard for human life is sad indeed. My grandparents were poor as church mice and never harmed a flea nor did the children they raised in that poverty. Stop making excuses for bad behavior, ban assault weapons but remember they have now had to ban carrying knives in London with a blade over three inches. This may curb mass shootings, but will not address the real problem.

@angelinaldeluca people did have guns at the recent shooting and none of them set off a single shot. one of the shootings was over in 30 seconds, a “good guy with a gun” couldn’t stop that anyways. the police couldn’t even and they’re trained professionals. also what is stopping a cop from mistaking them for the shooter and accidentally shooting one of the “good guys”?

@avabryski @avabryski most people think glass half full or glass half empty. people like you think "if the glass isn't full at all, i refuse to drink from it." the worst that'll happen is that nothing changes. there's an opportunity for change, but because it might not work you believe its 100% implausible and shouldn't be done under any circumstances. that's flawed.

Gun control takes away guns from people that can protect themselves it does nothing for criminals. They don't follow the law. What makes people think that gun control will stop criminals. It's already illegal to steal from stores yet criminals still do it. There's tons of illegal things yet the bad people always find a way .

You can't take guns out of law biding citizens, because criminals will ALWAYS have them. That's a #sadbuttrue #fact Guns are NOT responsible for these deaths, just like fast food is not responsible for fat people. Accountability upon people and THEIR actions is the problem. Stop making excuses for bad behavior.
