Photo by Michaela Skovranova @mishkusk l Often it’s hard to comprehend the far-reaching impact of our everyday actions; however, our environmental footprint vibrates throughout the globe. So how do we create positive change? Where possible, we can vote with our wallets, and become conscious consumers—from choosing clean-energy options, locally produced items, to plastic-free choices—these everyday changes are an essential showcase of our community values that places our life support system, the environment, in the center.
What are some of your everyday actions that help to protect the environment?

@frank_merandi it really isn't their fault. Countries like the Us and Australia have a majority of their wastes exported to South East Asian countries, so not only do these small countries have to deal with their own waste, but ours too. We are incredibly irresponsible with our waste, we just off load our problems to poor countries who can't afford to say no. And @iamnomad1 China and India both have much smaller CO2 emissions per capita than any western country. Try to keep in mind their population sizes when seeing broad overall emissions statistics. As individuals the US and other western countries are by far the worst polluters in the world.

@alisonita7 try a wooden 'pellot' (used to transfer larger packet) garden ...I just saw one & was excited about that. They had parsley, onions, swiss chard, lettuce, kale, spinach, mint, carnations, mariggolds...the pellot is upright with garden fabric around back stapled on to hold soil & moss in. To water it there were 2 plastic pipes with holes in attached to 2 pop bottles with bottoms cut off. YOU POURED WATER down through these & it would disperse water to the bottom through the holes all the way down .This would be great for one or 2 people...could be out on your balcony to catch the sun.

The worst thing that we could do is to give up, but we all are capable of positive change through everyday small decisions. Plastic and waste has been so engrained in North American culture that it is difficult to go back to natural and sustainable ways of living, but as a species we’ve done it before and we can do it again, this time with green technology on our side.

En casa recogemos el agua que sale justo antes de que salga caliente para poder ducharnos y luego para regar, fregar..., Tb hacemos nuestro propio detergente casero y limpiasuelos, vamos a comprar con bolsas de tela para productos que venden a granel...
