@hardenandrewt I'm not going to continue on because its quite obvious you're horribly misinformed. And while I won't expand much, I've worked in an industry dealing with firearms for over 10 years. But it's been in a country with strict laws. The last mass shooting in this country was 1996...not 2 in the last 10 days. We changed the law within the year, and it's never happened again. We don't need guns to protect ourselves, because others don't have them. The majority of our police force draws their firearm less than 10 times in their lives. But as I said, it's not use arguing because what you see is what you want, not what you need. Barely anyone actually needs guns. Sure they want them, but good luck seriously justifying a need for a gun. Farmers, hunters, sports people, fine. Do the training, get a license, register your guns and keep them locked up. Guarantee you'll see massive drop in gun related death, both in mass shootings and criminal activity. And ban semi-autos, self-loaders. They are a want, not a need. Honestly try and justify and semi auto with 15 rounds. It does 1 thing. Kill people. It's no good for target shooting, it's no good for hunting, questionable for farmers. I'm really surprised that as a country, Americans will endorse the slaughter of their neighbors...especially when your FDA rules are so tight they ban stuff like Kinder eggs as a choking hazard. But at the moment might has right. Good luck with that.

@jan_pekish take a couple firearm classes, educate yourself, and you will soon realize 90% of what you said is false and politically driven knowledge spread by the news. 99% of guns are semi-automatic, assault rifles do not exist, very very few people die from gun violence. You have a better chance dying from your doctor or a mosquitoes. The fact is uneducated people voting is what is going to to end this country. Stop over complicating stuff and watching biased new broadcast and do your own research. Once that research is done, question it and see if the control factors of it make sense and see if it was driven in a false direction. But truthfully if you want to know why we need firearms, view from it on both sides. Imagine yourself locked in a bedroom with your children trying to wait for police to come because someone is pounding on your door trying to hurt you, knowing police is minutes away. Imagine yourself in a country in which cause the government decides they need your children to fight for their political agenda so they come and rip them from your hands. The fact is you can’t rely on other people for your own protection, and they are only reactive and not proactive. Your life is something special you you deserve the right to protect it from anyone or anything that might try to take it from you.

I think it is going to take someone “big”, lawmakers , famous people as your platform to help in tho area. However unless a whole bunch of famous people with government ties get shot down , I don’t think congress nor Trump will do a damn thing with this Huge problem in our country ... how many more Sandy Hooks, Columbines, Virginia Tech, schools , churches, synagogues, Vegas, Colorado Movie theater shooting, I mean mental health is a true And very Real problem I’m this country ..... why aren’t ALL schools requiring Even as young as 2 Nd or 3rd grade for kids to begin school seeing the school counselors whether they want to talk or just listen.. I think it needs to be rehired every single quarter in ALL schools . Many kids need desperately to speak to someone that they know they can trust and that person is not a family member... this is little but it is a great start at helping our future navigate through communication and mental health not still being a “stigma” talking to someone about their feelings

@hardenandrewt Assault rifles are not protected by your constitution. Musket rifles etc are. Carry those. The majority of laws at that time have been revoked / rewritten as outdated, so it's out of context. It's like men claiming women are still property. Yup, they used to be, now you'd get locked up. The intent of the Constitution is now outdated and needs to grow with the country. And re gun laws, I'm not relying on research, I'm relying on what I know. Australia, New Zealand, UK, etc all have gun laws and minimal gun violence of the level the US has almost weekly. You look at facts and for a first world country, the mass shootings in the US are inexcusable. Common factors are guns freely available, easy to steal because not secured and you allow assault rifles. It's simple maths which cannot be denied. You lock the guns up, you see less theft and less access to people who shouldn't have them. And you don't need semiautos.

@if.you.seek.amy you’re not condescending! 😊 Perhaps I should have included that only 12,000 gun homicides occur on average annually compared to the exponentially larger number of those crimes prevented that I mentioned earlier. The other gun related deaths are suicides. All I was trying to say is that good guys with guns do far more good than bad guys with murderous intent do bad. Imagine all the rapes and robberies that didn’t happen this year because someone defended themselves. And yes, there have been plenty of instances where a jackass coward was dropped by a good guy with a gun before he could do harm, the media just doesn’t seem to report it. Taking away someone’s right to carry only makes us a nation of victims because criminals don’t obey laws.

@jan_pekish driving is not protected by the constitution. Yet since you bring up driving. You seem to be very concerned by people cared by firearms? Are you demanding the same from automobiles and doctors? They kill many more people yet people seem to not even blink an eye or in those situations. You seem to be citing a lot of false information about these other countries. The research you were referring to was a study that could not provide backup for their data, they did not account for how records are kept in those countries and language barriers. If you wanna change the violence you start with the people and how social interaction is with one another, and you educate people so they are not scared of what they don’t understand.
