Should black people wear sunscreen? Because people of color are often left out of clinical trials and treatments, there is very little research available about dark-skinned people and skin cancer, and the answer is more complicated than it may seem. This is a very important question to ask actually. Not just in regards to sunscreen but all skincare actually. I've read a lot of skin care studies that only experimented on lighter skin types. This is significant bc race really does affect your skin (obviously not talking about just skin tone). But I read that our skins have different properties. If this is true, then surely what works on one skin might not work on another. That's why it's nb to have inclusive studies.

@ms.persist Just my 5 cents, all the way from South Africa but having gone through the terrible Apartheid system here I know how a racially divided and "colour-coded" society can cave in on itself and I am sorry to say, America with its very racist president is going the same way. The world shakes its combined heads and keeps on watching the States slipping and sliding, down. El Paso/Dayton, and many many others part of your history. Be mindful. Respectful. Always. 🦋

@chmirko You're correct; there is no common sense here in the US. Secondly, mother mature has developed her own protection. She has been working at it far longer than your scientists have, and more effectively mind you. Since we lack common sense, why don't you tell us the regions of the world with the highest skin cancer rates and the lowest? The clue is hidden there somewhere.

@marikahashi i also read the earlier comment about the term POC not being ok and now you have shared your comments. THANK YOU for offering the alternative people with darker skin. I always try to take note when I hear folks talk about this and find myself very confused at times on preferred language. Thanks for educating us out here.
