Believe women. In 2008 I was sexually assaulted. I didn’t understand what happened to me or what it really meant. I feel so strongly that people need to talk more about these experiences, that they need to have a bright light turned on the dark corners where they thrive. This happens all too often to both men and women, and we need to do better for our next generation. Talk about this, make this feel real so that we can help out those who need it! Read more about my story in the link in my bio 💕

I was born on 1991-05-16; we have the same birthdate. I read the article, but I'm sure that many of us would have preferred to have read both sides of the story. (It's just a simple matter of objectivity.) The big tragedy is that the other person committed suicide. I actually value human life, and I don't see why "justice" should ever include death. (And I say that for the people who say that it was justice.) Nevertheless, I believe that you sound very sincere in that article. Thank you for taking the time to tell your story. I'm sure that it took a lot of courage on your part. I understand that you're trying to educate people, and that you're trying to promote change inside the organization. I will always support freedom of speech, but I don't like the idea of having the adults and minors of Team USA in different flights, hotels, press conferences, training sessions, or whatever. It might create disadvantageous rancor, because, as far as I know, those athletes belong to the same team. I prefer to embrace unity. You can have the safest environment imaginable, but that is not going to change the fact that there will always be bad people who disregard the rule of law. Maybe they're not in the team right now, but they might end up in the team someday. We should all respect one another, and that's the most enticing solution. It begins with the willingness to become a civilized human being. You can promote all the education in the world, but this saying still holds true: "you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink." There's no easy solution, but I admire you for trying to protect people.

Dear Ashley, I have to ask and I’m sure many are wondering....what transparency was there to the Safesport investigation into the allegations you made against John Coughlin? From 11 years ago that is. Did he have fair representation? There are some very noticeable discrepancies from the comments in this thread. Some of your fellow athletes who obviously were good friends with Mr Coughlin, have been tirelessly attacked by the “me too movement entourage”....whom are so willing to jump on the bandwagon when a story like yours becomes public. See this is where I have a problem with you coming out with this story AFTER the fact that Mr Coughlin committed suicide many months ago. He’s NOT here to defend himself in anyway against these allegations. You were attending a skating camp and at a party where there was illegal underage drinking going on (at least that’s the story I gathered from your interview. Also present at that same party were a bunch of young adults (men) that all were a part of the same skating community? You did say you were 17 and Mr. Coughlin was 22? So this kind of behavior is acceptable by the skating organization, coaches, and parents? I don’t recall you mentioning any problems with the skating organization or their coaches?

@ashwagner2010 Hi Ashley. Not sure if you’ll see this, but I Want to apologize for my comments. Totally not acceptable, and I’m very sorry. What happened to you was in no way ok, and I’m very sorry that happened to you. I was just in a bad place the other night . I hope you accept my apology, and I wish you healing and happiness!! ❤️ I sent a DM, but im sure you get a lot.

You’re amazing! Coming out with a statement always brings out the people who think statements shouldn’t be said and that we women should shut our mouths and be quiet about these things. Screw the patriarchy, if more women were brave enough or could speak out about things things would hopefully change for the better. Thank you for your message! 💖

Hi Ashley I really think you are going to help so many people!! I had the EXACT same scenario happen to me in 1995 my freshman year of college and I understand your description of ambiguity when trying to understand it right after. For me me also, The #metoo movement gave me a lot of clarity on a few situations. Thanks for speaking out!!! ❤️

BTW, you’ve just eliminated your possibilities of finding a good man for yourself by about 98%. If I were a man, I would have to have you sign a contract of consent for just a kiss on the cheek.... Oh and nice butt shots on your insta a couple of weeks ago. Very brave of you to teach your young fans that this is okay👍🏼
