During her interview on national MAI FM radio station New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Adern diverts debate over the Ihumatoa Protest to state, "We (the Government) are having a big dicussion now on Maori children & care." https://www.maifm.co.nz/home/headlines/2019/07/watch--children-of-ihumtao-send-a-powerful-message-to-jacinda-ar.html
The STATEMENT itself, made by the Prime Minister, attributes blame on Maori parents over the quality of care of their children.
Is it not possible Mrs Prime Minister that brutal Colonization & stealing of land, is not the root cause for most, if not all, slanted statistics & models relating to Maori wealth, health, education, employment, incarceration, suicide, drugs, gangs.
These sad truths lead to one root cause:
The Continuation of Oppression of Colonization.
The aim of British Colonization over Aotearoa was to exterminate & or breed out the indigenous population of Maori.
Instead of turning the tables back on Maori
HOW ABOUT considering that Maori are trying to achieve RECOGNITION of the TERRORISM Of COLONIZATION through the Ihumatoa process & what you are saying about Maori caring for their children? Maori caring for their children is at the HEART of Ihumatoa!
The Prime Minister is hiding the REAL ISSUE in Identifying with Maori, the ongoing pain & struggle caused by the original theft of this large parcel of land through the brutal Colonization process.
Jacinda is diverting to prevent the landslide effect of ACKNOWLEDGEMENT.
SAME applied in Australia with the Apology to the Aborigines over the genocide wreaked upon their peoples through British Colonization. They sought an "Apology" to help healing for the millions of Aborigines killed & still suffering.
Ihumatoa could be THE Issue raised to undermine & expose once & for all, the brutal history of Colonialism.
Success relies upon the persistence of Maori & indigenous people's worldwide. Let's support eachother, each grab a paddle, for the many rowers in this waka (canoe) will make it an undeniable force, an "idea" whose time has come!

@ira_skerra_vitalis I am also a mix but I see the injustice & hear the evasivectechniwues being applied to the obvious, the Terror of Colonialism is the White Elephant in the room. Whilst "certain" countries throw the Terrorist label around they in fact do not acknowledge their own acts of terror. Why the world is such a mess wirh moons willing to admit or submit their wrongs & replace separatist behavior with true attempts at unity. I believe it starts in the classroom with children But accurate & broader cultural history needs to be taught not just the white kids told of their victories & subsequent privileges & the others expected to catch up

All the colonist did the same..even in Asia Indonesia where I come from..but the Indonesian people got their land back as it should be..my great great grand parents came as colonists to that land and took that what didnt belong to them..i am not Indonesian but we are Indos a mix of european and indonesian people..we were seen as foreigners cause we weren't pure..we had to leave the country after war on 1956.so indonesia would be only with only their people..eben the moslims came to Indonesia and conquerred 500 years after Christ..they are still there and most of the people are moslim now instead od hindi..😢😢😢

@manubennett I don't understand why Jacinda is avoiding talking about the topic, when the christchurch shootings happened she showed wonderful support to the muslim community which was a kind move from her and the society but she should also support the maoris as well, there's no harm done in listening to their pleas. I'm not maori but I've seen their kindness and passion and commitment to preserving their culture, they deserve a chance to present their opinions.

If you look at what's happened to Scotland in the past, you will know why I support you all in this. We have recently been announced as worst in the world when it comes to drug-related deaths, but although we have ways in mind to combat this we are being thwarted at every turn by the London based government who firstly criticise us for it, then deny us the powers and legal framework we need to improve things. My heart is with you in your struggles 💜🦄

Pure evil. I studied our own "colonization" lived along side The Trail of Tears" and my soul screams for a stop to this atrocity. It makes me sick. They have the audacity to ask why people take to the streets in protests and cries for justice! Now to question parenting?! If Manu is an example of Maori parenting beliefs, then my God in Heaven make we all sit like pupils and take notes! Bastards - the lot of them!!

@decimusgladius I would think it would mean having to acknowledge the role her predecessors have played in the oppression of the Māori. After all, the colonization of New Zealand didn’t oppress to Muslim community so she can openly support them. By acknowledging the crimes against the Māori it opens the government up to reparations and they don’t wanna pay.
