Nothing of what is happening in New Zealand over these protests represents The Treaty Of Waitangi especially the behavior of police through the authority given to them by the New Zealand Government & ultimately The British Crown The combined forces against this group of protestors are simply favouring private enterprise over the clear contesting voice of Maoridom. This protest does not only represent a block of land, as is what sparked the skirmishes leading to the Maori Land Wars - this stand off represents the struggle Maori have policing, for themselves, incursions or neglect of the law prescribed within The Treaty Of Waitangi. Our Prime Minister Jacinda Adern should address this situation face to face as she did the recent Muslim crisis. What is at stake are the Maori rights stated in The Treaty Of Waitangi concerning the control of & ownership of land & water resources allowed them by form of Binding Treaty. Within this stalemate & its process MAORI ARE BEING BETRAYED by the New Zealand Government responsible for enacting law based upon The Treaty Of Waitangi signed by Maori Chiefs & the British Crown. We too have had people try to just steal the property going so far as to put a fence and locked gate around it. That's really a point of ,what I term "pissivity", to me. howeschin Globally many look at the United States as the only example of government and conquering forces taking native land from the first peoples- but it is a worldwide issue! We must stop taking tribal lands, and letting tribal lands be sold outside of the tribe. The tiny few places must be protected, as well as the legacy of the first peoples.

kiracookiestrandqvist We see it all over the world. History repeating itself. It's sad and upsetting. My grandfather was a freedom fighter doing WW2 and, the stories my grandmother told us kids I was so afraid that could happen again and I'm still to this day afraid.
