Two years of delicious cuddles, smelling every flower, and endless “firsts”. I woke up early this morning to read journal entries from my first few days postpartum. It feels like another lifetime, yet so close I can still close my eyes and remember every sweet squeak, every smell, every tear. Writing can do it that. Reading can do that. Where did two years go?! I’m so happy I wrote down those feelings (my mind was flooded), those questions, those observations. Time moves quickly, those little details so easily forgotten. The little hairs, and tiny toe nails, you forget how new everything is. Mamas remember to be gentle with yourself after giving birth. Reading this again with fresh eyes made me want to jump through those pages to hug myself. You’re fragile, you’re weepy, maybe you’re overjoyed but maybe you’re also scared. Your body is healing and learning how to balance new hormones, a new life. It’s so beautiful and so fleeting, so just know in your heart it’ll all settle. 🦋

kaylagraham_95 You are truly so precious Nikki, following you and your husband on Instagram is such a blessing. You two make me want to be the best mother for my son. It’s a struggle to do it all on my own, but I keep fighting remembering who I am doing it for. It’s hard to believe how fast time goes by. My son turned 3 in February and I wrote down everything from the first kicks to all the way the end of my pregnancy, then I had started a separate journal for when he was born. Looking back at it I can’t help but laugh at some of the questions I used to ask myself. But, motherhood is such a blessing and that first year of their life’s is just so fragile.. postpartum for me was very difficult, my son was an emergency c-section and I was under so much stress I wasn’t allowing myself to heal. I was just too worried about this little human I brought into the world. Anyways, I am rambling on.. You’re truly so amazing and talented and of course an amazing mother! Never change the way you are as a person. You make the world a better place Have an wonderful day♥️🥰

mrsrachyhaines I remember feeling really overwhelmed by the advice I was given pre-natal by friends, sisters, colleagues (not always wanted). But now I know. Every mother has gone through this transformation in body and mind and they want to share their experiences with new mums. I think everyone’s experience is totally different and I think this is a lovely message to give @nikkireed. Love to you and yours 💖

mech.u So true! Time and those little yet very precious moment fly away very soon! There’s instant love and laughs, sad tears, happy tears, overwhelm tears. There’s a lot of brand new feelings throughout postpartum. Patience, love and acceptance lead to experience. Also reading/talking/listening to all (new & not so new) moms. Happy anniversary!💜✨

janineahogan This is a wonderful message. So often first time moms spend all of their effort and time on preparing for when baby comes. But we fail to prepare for the postpartum journey. It is REAL. Self care and a great support system during that time is so crucial.
