I have been thinking a lot about joy lately. A yoga teacher after class the other day said, “Hey, can you do me a favor? I said, “sure what’s up?”, “Can you have a really awesome day?”. At the time I thought it a little weird but I replied “yeah, I will”.
Leaving the class with that exchange on the back burner, I caught myself almost instantly stepping back into over thinking about all the things I have to do; which was leading me quickly to the edge of anxiety I have been feeling lately.

In that moment I decided to choose again! I’d just made the commitment to having an awesome day, so I wasn’t going to let all of this thinking deter me from that. I chose to focus on things that excited me about my day. What next step could I take that would bring happiness and joy? My day unfolded so beautifully, I ended up having one of the funniest, best days I have had in awhile. Nothing had really changed, apart from me deciding to choose to be joyful, to take actions that enthused me.

The last few days have been really interesting, as the mind comes up for reasons not to be happy or things that I really should be worried about, Or that feeling of guilt after having too much fun, when there are “more important things to be done”! Yet I just keep deciding to enjoy myself no matter what and everything’s getting done, all is being taken care of, in a natural and peaceful flow, without me needing to stress about it.

I have often heard, we’re here to just play and enjoy.. what if that was our goal, what if we gave ourselves full permission to do so, no matter what our Circumstances? To enjoy our experience and continue to follow joy! Have you ever given it a good shot?? I’m inspired to keep going..it seems to be working, plus life’s too short to not at least try and enjoy every moment, right?
