Let’s have a round of ‘apaws’ for Alex, one of our TSA explosives detection canines, who found a clever way to stay cool during training. Alex is over these dog days of summer. And if you've been working like a dog in this heat, you may want to ‘paws’ for a swim to cool off, too. 🐕

Alex is the second canine for Denver International Airport (DEN) Handler Roxanne Sherwin, who also happens to be TSA's FIRST female Passenger Screening Canine Handler. Her first canine, Qquaapie, was named after a New York City firefighter who lost his life in 9/11. Now retired, Qquaapie spends his days napping on the couch and waiting for Roxanne and Alex to come home from work.

dornbushbrian @m_dreeben if your friend is afraid of dogs, try this...if they send you to walk in “pairs”, hold his/her hand and tell your friend to look away and in the opposite direction of the dog. If the dog & handler are on the right, have your friend look and stare left as you walk past them.

katchorman Yay!!!! Alex is one of my faves! The first time I saw him working, he spotted a dog passing by and jumped straight up several times with all four feet off the ground like he was floating! It was adorable. And he has such a sweet baby face.

lesliesaurous This dog was working this past Monday when I was at the airport. At one point they took a break to reward Alex with some play time. It was adorable. Good dog!

solanabailey @tsa that’s so awesome! So glad we have tsa dogs even though sometimes they are so cute it’s almost torture not to say hi, but I don’t ( the dogs I mean)
