Whilst these abundant mammals are found throughout the UK it’s unusual that I’ve never really found a strong enough population to work with around my home in Derbyshire. In recent months however this has changed somewhat and just yesterday whilst out walking my dog I happened to notice a warren that had at least 5 young rabbit kittens outside, these young rabbits making the ideal photographic subject. When I captured this image I was fortunate that my camera was already in portrait position as I wouldn’t have had time to rotate the camera in time to capture this brief moment of inquisitiveness. It was another one of those moments that I’ve logged as ‘lucky’, especially as I had just enough room to fit the rabbit in the frame, even though I was in portrait. On days like these, with scudding clouds and variable light it is one of those rare occasions when I will happily shoot on aperture priority, the neutral even tones of both the rabbit and the surrounding grass providing easy metering for the camera, allowing predictable and consistent results when it comes to my exposures. It’s also fortunate that both of the kittens ears are fully up, not to mention his two front feet being visible, all of the little additional elements that can elevate an image and make it more complete.」7月22日 21時24分
