Photo by @Cristina Mittermeier | I'm sure this polar bear was well aware of our presence far sooner than when we spotted him. Sniffing us from 200 feet away, we followed his slow trek across the Arctic tundra from our zodiac. A polar bear's sense of smell is their most important tool for detecting prey on land. They can sniff out a seal 20 miles (32 kilometers) away. Follow me at @Cristina Mittermeier and explore my feed for more photos from the #Arctic. #polarbear #ice #discoverwildlife
