@rachel_nichols it would be foolish for owners (they need to change that designation to shareholders) to interfere with what has been an amazing offseason so far. The NBA is the premieur pro sports league in North America, it has wrestled the title from the NFL because the players feel empowered and are choosing beautiful basketball via teaming up with those that compliment them and the fans can't get enough of that. If the shareholders and journalists insist on speculating about changing this paradigm that actually exhibits more parity, you will see a dissipated interest and passion for the game by the players and correspondingly the fans. Let the players enjoy the hard work they have engaged in to make this sport the talk of the world again.....the glass is filling up, stop trying to sip it down

I’m a fan of the jump, but the tone of the commentary has become extremely critical and condescending towards the players + executives by the panel of writers on the show. The commentary is belittling and as a fan of the NBA I watch the jump to be informed, not to hear writers mock players or every transaction each team makes. I understand the jump is an opinion based show but it’s become a sort of mean girls version of critiquing the league and less of a collective of minds sharing constructive or intriguing insight. As the leader of the show you have the ability to set the tone.

Player movement does not hurt the league! The only thing I personally do not respect is when players break their contracts. However the movement itself is good for the league. It all eventually balances itself out and creates competition. Because of all the movement, we now have several legitimate contenders for the ring. There is no such thing as a super team. That’s just some stupid false narrative that was created with the LeBron era Miami Heat! But obviously, there were greater teams that came before them!

While it may never happen I think the solution would be to only have two year contracts. This way the players have mobility and the teams dont get locked in to terrible long term contracts (only terrible short term contracts lol). This would allow players the flexibility they enjoy but at the same time wont guarantee then long term money which at this point is needed with how ridiculous these contracts are.
