“This duet comes out of a section that has begun entirely with crawling and walking,” Laurel Lynch, or @lalathehawk, said. “It’s like waves of people passing — time passing.” Here, she dances opposite Billy Smith in Mark Morris’s “V,” a transcendent work set to Schumann’s Quintet in E Flat Major for Piano and Strings. Presented at the #MostlyMozart festival at @lincolncenter, “V” (2001) is part of a mixed program by @markmorrisdance starting Wednesday. “There’s so much warmth in this dance,” Laurel said. “It opens with an embrace to the audience.” There are two groups, one dressed in green and the other in blue; V-shaped formations emerge and dissolve throughout the work, in which the dancers soar across the stage like birds. In this intimate, romantic duet, the two dancers pull apart, but are, Laurel said, “always coming back together.” As Billy, or @billydancesmith, told the #nytimes writer @giadk, “It’s almost like we’re tethered, emotionally and physically. We can’t be separated.”
