After being on numerous sets, behind the scenes and discussing with other models. I’ve realized that many hair artists are unprepared in the face of hair diversity. Lacy was the first stylist I’d met who saw my photo on the call sheet and went above and beyond to bring extra braiding hair and braiding tools in her kit. She was the first stylist to ever touch up my braids on set and the first to even offer to do so. In many shoots I’ve done my hair looks unruly because the stylists assume that just because my hair has been styled into braids that the look is groomed and completed - FALSE. I’ve heard far too many horror stories about hair on set and I hope that this inspires everyone to go the extra mile when they’re doing their job.
