'When shopping in #Morocco there are two things to keep in mind. First, bargaining is somewhat of a national sport – don’t be afraid to haggle. Second, be careful what you buy and where. You can find plenty of imports and knock offs in the souks. Try to visit cooperatives and purchase from true artisans. Also, #Fez is known for leather goods and pottery, #Essaouira for argan oil, and #Marrakech for its spice market. Just watch out for vendors selling Iranian saffron and dyed crocus threads instead of pure Moroccan saffron!' – @we3travel -- That's all for this weekend's takeover! lol...fell for the fake saffron when I was in my twenties, visiting the island of Djerba in Tunisia. I had my passport stolen too by a "visitor"..being "naive" can happen at any age...some are better than others at sniffing out the snakes.

Love the Medina and souks...but never even ask how much something is unless you are 90% sure you want to buy it, asking is almost like committing to buy in their terms. Also, learn to stare and ignore.

Oh I don’t know, barter yes for a higher end item, but these people are generally very poor , I never barter for a ( cheap to us ) item, doesn’t seem right
