I had the honor of sitting down at the Red Table with @jadapinkettsmith and @adriennebanfieldnorris to discuss my experience and journey as an adoptive mother to two African-American children. Join us on Monday for the all-new episode of @redtabletalk.
I have endless respect for Jada and her mom ( and @ウィロー・スミス 💜) for starting #rtt as a way to build bridges in our fractured world. We discuss my ongoing journey to be the best mother I can be to my two children , and we try to address misconceptions about the adoption process. I can only speak about my own journey, and each person’s story is different. But my wish was to have an honest dialogue with two powerful woman who are part of my children’s community. I cannot thank Jada and Gammy enough for their warmth and fearlessness , I admire them so much. It was such a special experience. I hope you tune in on Monday.

My mom Fostered several different races nd r family adopted one of the children nd working with the Latino children nd trying to teach them their culture was a problem, but what I say, why don't the families of these children should b willing to take their culture of children nd Foster them, themselves it wouldn't b as much sending these babies to different culture of families. Blacks get their black babies, white get their babys, Latino get their babys, we all know that all races r n these foster homes nd they could really care less, until they see u? with the different race of children, Latinos were always staring at my mom nd I when we r n public with these different children, u knew they didn't like it, but they're culture isn't coming to foster classes so they can qualify for these children, ALL RACES HAVE A CHOICE WITH THESE CHILDREN TRUST ND BELIEVE ?? iamkristindavis I'm proud of u, at least u r trying, I pray that u nd ur new boys will have nothing but positive energy nd support during this life u have decided to raise African American....my suggestions would've been that b4 u adopted these black babies that u would've researched, studied nd did ur homework on how to raise these babies nd what r culture (African Ameeican) is about, the past, the present nd the future of what ur going to b dealing with, it's not difficult, all u need is love nd understanding about these babies race...God bless u for caring as u do....I love nd admire u so much, I love u a fan best of luck nd I appreciate u sharing ur life with ur fans I enjoyed ur Table Talk....love u a fan ???

Seriously! White saviors!!! My sister waited years to adopt children. She would have loved and taken green children if that's what color they were! And guess what, she received two beautiful black infant girls that she had raised and loved along with the rest of the family. Not once did we view my sister and her husband as saviors to black babies. We don't see color! We see people. We see children who needed a home and love. She took them to hair parlors in black communities, she helps them deal with racial issues when they arise. If they were boys, it would be the same way. You choose to perpetuate differences and issues that can move along in the world if you'd stop continuing what differentiates us and not what makes us the same. So let me answer the question about why we should trust white people to raise black children... Because we see the child, not the color. And if some lovely Nigerian woman wanted to raise a white child, I'd trust her! Anyone can mess up a kid, no matter what color they are and that includes a black mother with a black child...and a white mother with a white child. So...who do you trust to raise a child??? Anyone who would love them!

Just out of curiosity, why not adopt white children? In the past, i have seen a few white people adopt black children and I asked one woman why adopt this girl if you can’t attend to her hair? I mean the child’s hair wasn’t maintained by this 56 year old white woman and her answer was almost as prejudice and unfortunately it was a sad state of affairs. She was arrested for cruelty to her black child. I almost feel bad for the boy adopted by Charlize Theron and she dresses him as a little girl. So my question, I’ve seen tons of white kids in the United States who need adopted and black children too. Why is it, that going over to Africa to adopt a child is like an “in thing” to white celebrities? How will you explain to them that when they get older and pulled over by a racist white cop, how does your child deal with the situation, because last I checked, cops have been arresting and beating young black boys and some have ended in death. I can guarantee you, a white mothers talk and a black mothers talk are very different to their young child and especially how to deal with police.

Yes, there are racist people no matter what color your children are. My parents told me and my sister that we would have problems. It just wasn’t what we thought it would be. I am bi-racial and was bullied in high school by black kids. They didn’t accept me, but that was their issue. Not mine. I wanted to make friends, no matter their race or color. I realized that my tribe didn’t have to consist of people of the same race, religion or gender. It consisted of anyone with “like energy”. I commend you Kristin and anyone regardless of the race of a child to adopt. There will always be challenges with children. If children are provided a solid foundation of values, ethics and common decency, that will give them the tools necessary to deal with any hatred or bigotry. It will never be easy but it does take someone with a big heart to know the challenges and stay the course. Your children, are lucky to have you as their mother. ?

You see this is a human being 100% empathy and strength. Do not be afraid @iamkristindavis god sees you and your heart. All babies need to be loved no matter what they look like. So many people have so much love to give but are too afraid of the backlash. You are a very brave woman to talk openly about this issue. Talk about it often, dont let anyone shake you and teach this to your babies. Ignorance is bliss but living awake surpasses it above and beyond. We all need this today. Every perspective is important so that we all can unlearn our differences. People who love you truly, will support you no matter what. Even if they dont understand it themselves, they can learn by your example and if they cant get with it, then youll see them drop off like flies leaving room for people who do get it. You are so blessed and although i dont know you, i am so proud of you! ?

Do a fabulous deed ... get lectured. I love you, Ms. Davis, but damn ... "screw you for trying to better a young black boys' life," no? Just watched the interview. The abject prejudice and high horses of these woman was EMBARRASSING>
The correct response from them: "Thank you, Kristin. Thank you for your reseach into our lands, our flora and fauna, and our childen -- even though we're myopic Americans who spoil our rich (light-skinned) kids with access of movies and musi careers while YOU'RE OUT THERE digging well and saving elephants from torture ,,, Oh ,,, and CHILDREN! How dare you, white woman?! This is so lecturey and you've very kinda to have appeased them, but you owe them NO explanation, If anthing, they should have spent time explaning how THEY are fixing (and not perptuating) raism.
