Did you know you can snorkel or scuba dive with manta rays at night? In Kona (on Hawai‘i Island), these gentle giants come out at night to feed on plankton. Don't worry -- it's completely safe!

I did it years ago when you carried your own lights and held on to a big hula hoop. It was wonderful! I forgot to turn off my light and two followed me back to my boat. I didn't want to get out of the water. Was the best thing In have ever done. Did it again 2 years ago and it has become so popular it wasn't as personal an experience but still worth it.

When you go snorkeling, you have to hold on to a surfboard and lie as still as possible and there are thousands of small fish swimming around you. It's an awesome experience, but with a LOT of people. The boat trip was fun and the crew genuinely cares for the mantarays. Bucket list item!

I wouldnt say “Completely Safe”. This is the ocean, at night mind you. A lot of things can happen. .....”But Hawaiian Airlines said it was completely safe!”.
