@mcdowell5017 sorry... I should say they took care of ‘us’ not ‘me.’ We were supposed to go to the Big island in April but my boyfriend’s uncle was dying and we had to change our trip. We expected change fees.. I was bummed because I had found a great deal on 1st class tickets in January. And now we needed to change. We both have travel insurance but didn’t want to ask family for our uncle’s death certificate. Also, I suspected boyfriend planned to propose that trip.
Long story short, we rebooked TWICE(!) so these tickets basically became full price for us. We usually book economy plus so this feels extravagant!
But he proposed two weeks ago when we were on the island and I am still more than satisfied with how Hawaii’s Airlines helped us when they didn’t have to on the first reschedule.
AND we had a 8 hour departure delay the trip before this and we still love Hawaiian Airlines. Some delays are out of their control. Some. delays aren’t their fault. But end of day I would prefer traveling with them any day of the year.

I just went through the bag drop at Hawaiian Air at Honolulu Airport. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EXPERIENCE EVER. The elderly Hawaiian Airlines agent who was scanning the bag tags got frustrated at my husband because we didn’t know to have our boarding passes and IDs out for him. After 0.3 seconds, the Hawaiian Airlines agent then rolled his eyes and SNATCHED my husband’s boarding pass out of his hand while looking at us with disgust. He scanned our bags then said, “Leave the area! Walk away!” I told him he was being nasty and he said, “Yah, thank you! Have a nice day! Don’t worry about it!” Wow. Talk about aloha. Talk about the Hawaiian Airlines experience. Makes me embarrassed to say I’m from Hawaii, knowing that this is how loyal Hawaiian Airlines customers, both local and otherwise, are being treated. Shame on you guys, Hawaiian Airlines, for allowing this. So. Shame.

Hawaiian air so disappointed in your handling of flight 43 from San Jose to Honolulu. After having passengers wait from 7:00 am for their 9:00 am flight with delay after delay finally telling them that their flight is canceled at 10 pm, making them go wait in line with no one helping them with Hotel vouchers and taxi assistance then having to go get their luggage, sending them to a hotel where there was no space and those people having to come back to the airport because they had no where else to go. This lack of caring and help is just unbelievable. Kids and babies at the airport all day and now no where to go. You should offer these people a full refund and fly them for free. You should be ashamed of yourselves. I am truly disappointed in you. So disgusted with your lack of action.

@manda_sue_13 I think our situation was a little difference than yours. I did call customer service several times and all I got was I’m so sorry this happened to you but they would not do anything about it. I told them to notify the passengers what’s going on. I have no question about passenger safety, that goes without saying. But when you keep on delaying the flight hour after hour and after 12 hours of waiting (kids and babies with limited formula and diapers) then at 10 at night you finally send them to a hotel only to have them turned away because there is no occupancy and have to go back to the airport, that’s the problem. Handled poorly.

@mcdowell5017 I’m sorry you went through this. Nobody wants to hear that in the small print of your ticket agreement basically you have no recourse. Technically. However, in my own experience? Hawaiian Airlines took care of us in a situation when they didn’t have to. I knew it and I told them I knew it. They still took care of me. I didn’t blast it on social media. I just sent them an email that got escalated quickly. And they took care of me more than I asked for. Try calling them and emailing them. I hope you will be surprised.
