So this was it. We said goodbye to our baby girl for 4 whole weeks. It will be Mazzy’s first time at sleep-away camp. She is so excited for this big girl adventure but still brought Boo with her on the bus. She gave us all the best hugs. I think she saved the biggest one for Harlow. Swipe left 😭😭😭 #thebigkidyears

I love all the comments that are like, "totally not judging you or anything but four weeks seems like a really long time, I could never do that, even 4 days would give me anxiety, are you sure you shouldn't have started with a week?!?! Totes not judging though!!!" Surely both parents and child decided they were all comfortable with this arrangement *before* going ahead with it and that's really all you need to know. ??♀️ Mazzy will have a BLAST (and if not, she can always come home!)

Whoa, I didn’t realize 4 weeks until this post. I think it would be a delight at first but then I’d miss my kid(s) a lot. I’m super impressed, a little envious and grateful all at the same time. Summer is so short for us, 4 weeks is half of it. I hope Mazzy has the best time, Harlow enjoys her “only” child time and I can’t wait to read a post all about it! ?

Growing up on the west coast, this was never a thing, but my sophomore year in college, I took a leap and travelled 3000 miles to work at one. One of my absolute favorite summers and one I will always remember. And though I adored working with those kids, I just admit the care was questionable ?

She’ll love it. Mine have always done sleep away camp but home on weekends. My oldest two have been across the country for a week and a half and I miss them like crazy! (They has been away at work camp prior to leaving for Utah).

having grown up going to sleep away camp, what’s bizarre to me is how much of a northeast phenomenon it is. I never realized until my adult life. yes a privilege, but a formative, grounding and fun one. @linstagram11 ?
