“Hat Full of Stars” (the album) turns 26 this week. Link in story. Even though “Hat Full of Stars” is a sad song, it’s also uplifting. There’s a line in there that goes “You could’ve seen far / You should’ve seen the magic / In my hat full of stars.” It’s “coulda, shoulda,” because like I said, in the neighborhood I came from, everyone always said, “I coulda been this, I shoulda done that,” but they never did. Well, I made sure I did—that I wasn’t one of the “shoulda, coulda, woulda” people. For the first time in my life (except for “Time After Time”) I was singing my songs, singing my stories. It’s so important to me to write songs that are taken from my life so that they have real meaning. I always felt that the paths that people took were worn into how they walked, how they lived, and I know it’s romanticizing things, but the important thing for me is to portray the richness of their stories in sounds and words. Give it a listen. 🎶💕🎉

It's my first CD in my life. I got it when I was 10 yrs old. Since then, It's been always with me when I'm sad and happy. I've look up you and you are my pride and respect for this album. I met you 5 times in my life, that was my biggest dream and the goal in life since kid, but every time I come back to this album, I feel a start and need to do something big and go for another dream because i know that dream is something achievable thing. You imagine how your sound and note effect people's life. Without this album, I woulda been something else but me.

When I was four, I used to being this album to my school and during play time, my teachers played it. And I wanted to play but I never could because I was always dancing and singing. I earned myself the nickname “Cyndi Lauper” because of that. Cyndi has been a huge part of my life and I love her so much! Her music is so thoughtful and she truly is an inspiring artist. She’s someone I’m definitely keeping in mind as I begin my own music career.

Radio ignored a gem... this album should have been huge. I completely blame Epic Records ... I remember reading a write up in Billboard even they were shocked that there was no AirPlay for the songs ... they were also shocked a few years later that Sisters was being ignored as well. Hat is my favorite album ... what’s someone like me doing in a life like this?

Still my favorite album! And when I introduced your discography to my teen daughter, this was the one she was drawn to too. Without my influence. So MANY great songs on this one! And it holds up so well after all these years.
