camila.delaserna I always felt like Jamie's lyrics where some how speaking to me. I'm sure I'm not the only one who's felt this. I don't know what it is, maybe he just has the ability to put into words experiences that however personal they might be, have a core we all share. "All at sea" was particularly special, in that sense. I heard it in a time when the words I needed to hear the most, were just not going to come, and I found them on that song. It changed my life. A year ago, I decided to get the first words of that song tattooed, to honor that change. To remind myself that even though we all have good and bad days, the truly painful part of my life was over. You can imagine my reaction when I heard the words "If pain was just a tattoo Maybe it will stop hurting". I know perfectly well that when he writes, he does it about his life, his experiences and his point of view. At the same time, his music has got me through some of the worst moments. It made me feel safe when I was utterly unsafe, It gave me hope when there was none, It was the advice I needed to hear the most, when it was just not coming. And however unintentional all that might be, however consequential of my own interpretation of his art, I will always feel grateful.

lake.girl Love this-- sounds perfect! As a writer and professor of writing (and literature), I often tell my students that they won't really work out what they are thinking until they write it down-- face it, and work with it-- even if they need to speak it first. Endings are beginnings-- I am living this wisdom and reality right now and have seen it play out in my life at various key moments. Eager to hear the whole album-- congrats!
