To mark #Stonewall50, five queer icons reflect on their memories of the riots that sparked a queer revolution in America on the site today. 🏳️🌈
“It was the moment that a small movement of hundreds of people moved to a mass movement of thousands,” Randy Wicker, a prolific activist who has fought for #LGBTQ+ rights over 50 years and was a friend of Marsha P. Johnson, remembers. “It happened because it was a resistance that captured the imagination of the masses...I’m amazed at all the progress that has been made in the 50 years since Stonewall.”
