Traditionally eaten during the celebration of Sant’Agata’s religious ceremony, the “minnuzze” or “olivette di Sant’Agata” are traditional pastries with strong ties to the rituals of fertility. As legend has it, the “minnuzze” allude to Agata’s severed breasts when she was martyred. The “olivette” on the other hand, are significative of Agata coming across a sterile olive tree, which at her touch would have prodigiously begun to produce olives. #DGDNA
