We cultivated the friendship for months and gradually started letting our family know that we are talking. You know, I told my sister to add her on BBM as a friend that I like. I hadn’t met any of her sisters but she told me about them and randomly we’d talk about them like we have met our families. BBM wasn’t cutting it, so we moved to video calling via Skype. Let me tell you about the Skype calls. We’d call each other, leave the computer/ phones on while we go about the business of the day. Chioma will spend time watching YouTube Nollywood movies. We’ll leave the call on then go to bed and maybe PHCN or the WiFi will end it at some point in the night. The sweet part was the art of praying together. We kept talking until it was time for summer and she informed me that she would be coming to Nigeria and she wouldn’t be able to see me unless she tells her mum. Nobs : Your mum ?
