Photo @stephen_matera | Washington State has five very prominent volcanoes that are heavily glaciated and significantly higher than their nearby peaks. These five include Mt. Rainier, Mt. Adams, Mt. St. Helens, Glacier Peak, and Mt. Baker. They're all beautiful, inspiring, and stand head and shoulders above the non-volcanic peaks of the Cascades. At 10,525' Glacier Peak, pictured here, is deep in the heart of its namesake wilderness, and the most remote of these five volcanoes.
