He won many battles against the Romans & offered refuge to those who fell victim to Roman expansion. His fate arrived soon after Emperor Trajan annihilated the Dacian Capital city of Sarmizegetusa located high in the idyllic Orastie Mountains, & rather than endure the humiliation of capture by his foe Trajan, Decebalus committed suicide. The picture I have posted in from a Roman funeral stele which shows the moment when Tiberius Claudius Maximus, a Roman cavalry scout, arrived to arrest Decebalus, who in defiance cut his own throat.
