Io represented the first Heretic (from Hera) proving no human is God-like nor should claim to be so enabled. Background: Io is an ancient Greek priestess & also Maori name for Supreme Being. With Christianity, Io was banned from Maori language & if you ask a young Maori about Io they have no idea. Imagine if the word God vanished from society within 100 years. This inappropriate censorship was enforced upon Maori & many other non Christian cultures. So Zeus was an ancient king, married to Hera & Io was the highest priestess in the Temple of Hera. Her father was King Inachus of Argos & her relatives included Perseus, Cadmus, Heracles, Minos, Lynceus, Cepheus & Danaus & an uncle OCEANUS whom I believe connects heridtary knowledge & skills to Polynesian voyagers. Zeus, considered a god, fell in love with Io but she refused his affection. Thus in mythology Zeus turned Io into a white heifer which was then supposedly chased by sand flies into & across the Bosphorus to modern day Turkey. I believe this mythological story refers to a true event where King Zeus killed Io, causing conflict with Inachus & his powerful relations. Due to Zeus' might, the supporters of Io were forced to flee across the Bosphorus into Turkey, historically true of the Ionian people. Once parted they began Ionism praising Io for revealing Zeus not to be a god, refusing him & then killed because of heracy. Ionians continued to Egypt where they chose to worship Ra, instead of their old sun god Apollo. Methods learned from Oceanus, like triangular sails, allowed them to sail further east to Polynesia (Greek for many islands) I believe this story is not "mythology" as taught via Christian based education but provides credibility that ancient Ionians, derived from Io, Egyptians who worshiped Ra & Maori likewise, are thus connected via these two words - Io & Ra.
