​Meet the Edward’s fig parrot @loroparque! In the wild, you’re likely to find this bird traveling in pairs throughout the forests of north-eastern New Guinea. While this species is mostly solitary, large gatherings of up to 35 individuals have been recorded at fruit trees where they have the opportunity to feed on their favorite food source – the fig. In addition to this parrot and hundreds of other unique species, about nine million people depend on the forests and fresh waters of this island for their survival.
