Last Monday, the @unitednations released the sobering Global Assessment Report on Biodiversity and Ecosystems predicting that, unless major changes are made in the way we use and relate to the natural world, 1 million animal and plant species could face extinction within our lifetime. Certainly the absence of creatures like these white rhino would be devastating and the loss of the rich biodiversity the world holds might cause the delicate ecosystem we rely on to collapse. What happens next is up to all of us.
