On Sunday night, we saw an advanced screening of @secretlifeofpets and then we were supposed to go to a Meet and Greet with the cast on Monday at 6:30pm. But Monday evening rolled around and Mazzy still had a lot of homework to do and I was debating whether taking them all the way up to midtown on a school night was "a smart parenting move." Harlow really wanted to go, so Mazzy volunteered to stay home with Mike. Then I checked my email for the address and found out they had sent an email earlier in the day that changed the time to 45 minutes earlier. I had missed the email and now it was too late to go. I said, "Bad news, Harlow. They switched the time so we missed it." I really didn't think this would be a big deal, but Harlow FLIPPED OUT. I tried to explain to her that it wasn't like we were walking into a room with Snowball, Max and Chloe. It was just the actors. I showed her pictures of the actors so she would understand and told her their names. But she just got even madder. "I wanted to meet the famous people! I wanted to see what they do there!" I realized that Harlow has now reached an age where she thinks meeting a celebrity is more interesting than a costumed character. I told her not to worry, I'm sure there would be other opportunities. Then she launched into a full-on meltdown, screaming, "THERE WON'T BE ANYMORE OPPORTUNITIES! WE WON'T GET ANOTHER OPPORTUNITY!!! WHEN WILL THERE BE AN OPPORTUNITY????" Mazzy and I looked at each other and burst out laughing. Harlow stopped screaming and said, "WHAT IS SO FUNNY?" Mazzy said, "Well. Usually when a little kid is having a tantrum, it's not about 'missed opportunities." 😂😂😂 We sat in silence for a moment and then Harlow started laughing a little too. Thank god. Then she got very solemn and sad. "I really wanted to meet @ericstonestreet." 😂🤣 I am raising one weird complicated kid. (FYI, this pic has absolutely nothing to do with this story but I neglected to take a pic of Harlow’s celebrity tantrum so 🍌🍌🍌 it is.)
