TIME Magazineさんのインスタグラム写真 - (TIME MagazineInstagram)「The photographer Federica Valabrega first met Maria Lidia Meza Castro and the five children she brought with her from #Honduras last November. The family was making its way to Tijuana, aiming for asylum in the United States. Days later, Castro was photographed running with her twin girls after tear gas was fired near the border wall by American border agents. Valabrega lost contact with Castro after she entered the U.S. After working to locate her in the Washington, D.C., area, Valabrega spent three weeks with the Castro family, living with them and documenting their adjustment to life in the United States. “Her determination to do anything in her power to raise her children in a better place as a single mother inspired me,” Valabrega tells TIME. In these photographs: Maria lays in bed with her youngest son, Enoc; Maria empties water from a broken sink; Sayra and Cheyli play with flowers they picked as a present for their mother; Maria, sitting beside a pile of donated clothing, cries while speaking on the phone with a son back in Honduras; Victor, 15, after school; and Jeimy, 13, looks outside on a rainy afternoon.
