The twins from #Honduras were photographed being clutched by their mother last November while dodging a tear gas canister fired by American authorities near the U.S.-Mexico border wall. After the incident, the girls, three siblings and their mother, Maria Lidia Meza Castro, spent weeks in camps in Tijuana; they were later among a group of asylum seekers who received assistance getting through a port of entry from a nonprofit group and two Democratic members of Congress. They are now living in the metropolitan area around the nation's capital, close to where Castro has family. The attorney working on her asylum case says there is a huge backlog and no set court date, leaving Castro and her children in limbo. Read more, and see more pictures, at the link in bio.
