TRH signed Leipzig’s Golden Book and visited two churches: St Thomas’s Church and St Nicholas Church, which is the oldest and largest church in the city. St Nicholas Church is known as being a key location in the events of the “Peaceful Revolution”, the events which led to the division of Germany in 1989 and German Unification a year later. Tens of thousands of people marched peacefully from the church through the centre of the city.
